Feel free to browse through the course wiki. Here's a guided tour of some of my favorites sections: Outstanding final projects include Erik's essay on how science fiction conceals the 'unreal' nature of society, Kyle's treatise on security as a commodity, Linze's screenplay about videogame addiction, Lauren's essay on handwriting, and Niki's eschatological epic screenplay. But that's just a start! A list of all the final projects is here. Good examples of the Point of View assignment are Amanda's essay on vending machines and Cristina's essay on the hair iron. Throughout the semester, students collaboratively worked on notes for the readings, which would then serve as a point of departure for our discussions. One such notes page is this one. Students prepared book reviews and then we had a series of panels during which students debated the author's positions. One good example are the reviews for the books The Dumbest Generation and Everything Bad is Good for You. The Wiktionary of Culture and Technology, collectively written by the whole class, contains entries on topics as diverse as Cyberporn, Guitar Hero, Junk Sleep, Link Rot, Offline, and Viral Marketing. Thank you to all my students for making this a great course. -Ulises Mejias
